When you live in Texas you know heat. There was a time when Houston used to be called the most air-conditioned city in the United States. Without air conditioning, no one would be able to function in this part of the country. It’s just too hot and humid!
What do we do?
MET Home Services has been helping West Houston, Katy, and the surrounding areas with plumbing and air conditioning issues for over 20 years. Air conditioning installation is just one of our many services. Whether you need a new central air conditioning system installed or you want to replace your old one, we have the technicians and the selection you need. It all starts with one phone call to MET.
The MET Home Inspection
Most air conditioning systems need to be replaced or overhauled every 7-10 years. During the home inspection we’ll check the overall health of your system, if there is one as well as the state of the ductwork in your home. The indoor unit, the outdoor unit, and the duct work must all be in good order for any new system to function at its best potential. We will ensure that the whole system is inspected first so we can give you an accurate quote and range of cooling options for the size of your home.
Sizing a unit
These inspections are important because air conditioners need to be sized for the space. If the unit is too small your home won’t get cold, but it’s even worse if it’s too big. Air conditioners don’t just cool a space, they also remove humidity. A big air conditioner will cool a house fast but won’t run long enough to pull the humidity out of the room. That can lead to mold and mildew problems! MET will make sure that you get the right unit for your home.
How long does it take?
If your home has an existing forced-air heating system, often we can reuse the same ductwork for our AC units. In this case, a new installation can take around 2-3 days. If we have to install ductwork, say for a new house or for an old retrofit, it can take double this time. If you have no ductwork and you are currently living in your home, we will do our utmost to route new ductwork to cause minimal disruption.
